Sherwin Williams Color of the Year 2021 Challenge

Some of you may know that different paint manufacturers will announce paint colors of the year. If you've been a part of the Friar Tuck Design family for a while now, then you might recall that I painted my home office in Benjamin Moore's Color of the Year for 2020, First Light.

I recently got together with a small group of fellow interior designers. We were each tasked with designing a room of our choice in Sherwin Williams' Color of the Year for 2021, Urbane Bronze.

All of the ladies I got to collaborate with are extremely talented and I have a lot I can learn from each of them. Are you ready to see what each of us designed?

First up, is Mandie Rodriguez. She owns MLR Interior Design and is based out of Ocean Springs, MS.

She chose to create a luxurious master bedroom:

Finally, it's yours truly! I decided to go with an eclectic vibe for my home office that has touches of bohemian, modern, and industrial elements.

The best part about this design? You can find EVERYTHING I chose under one virtual roof. All of the items I selected are from World Market. They're not sponsoring this post or compensating me in any way. I honestly really love their items.

I loved this challenge as I stretched my design muscles. I normally would not pick a darker color like Urbane Bronze for the walls. I usually lean more towards lighter, more muted colors. However, I think the cream in the chairs and the curtains really balance the out the wall color. I also love the pops of orange and blue throughout the accessories.

There you have it! My first off-the-cuff design based on a Color of the Year. Until next time...

Happy Designing!

- Angela :)
