Mood Board Monday - Storage Solutions Edition!

In honor of Get Organized month, I wanted to share some of my favorite storage solutions for the home. I have all of these items in my own home, so you know they're mom approved! I'm not a spokesperson for any of these products. I just happen to really like them.


You can utilize any or all of these items and apply them to last week's #TuesdayTip on Instagram and Facebook. Here we go...

1) These OXO Pop Containers are a true storage workhorse. They keep a tight seal and keep any food you're storing fresher, longer. I love using them for larger quantities of baking ingredients like flour or sugar. I will say that they are on the pricier side. However, if you're a bargain hunter like I am, you can get them cheaper at HomeGoods, HomeSense, T.J. Maxx, or Marshalls.

2) I love these Y-weave storage bins. They do a great job corraling all of my haircare, skincare, first aid items, etc. in my bathroom closet. My actual closet leaves little to be desired, but those baskets organize all my stuff and I can easily find what I'm looking for. They come in a wide range of sizes and colors to meet your organizing needs. I could every easily see them corraling crayons and markers in a craft room/playroom.

3) If you have any clear containers that you use for dry goods, do yourself a favor and get these chalkboard labels. Otherwise, you're not going to be able to tell the difference between different types of flours in your pantry.


Yes, I have different types of flour - it's not just All Purpose in my world! The cake I make for the Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet each year calls for Self-Rising Flour. I've also got bread flour, almond flour, tapioca flour, and coconut flour sitting pretty in my cabinets.


4) The Kallax unit from IKEA is truly an indestructible and versatile piece of furniture. We bought ours over 10 years ago for Cameron's nursery.

This same piece of furniture has survived several moves and is now in Cameron's bedroom.


5) It's no secret that I'm a Mason jar enthusiast. I use 2 different sizes of them as drinking glasses in my home. I was well known when I worked in higher education for my mason jar salads at lunch.

I use Mason jars for all sorts of organizational purposes throughout my home. I've got them storing Q-tips and cotton balls in my bathroom.

I've got them corraling writing utensils, thumbtacks, binder clips, and the like in my home office.

I also have them storing smaller quantities of dry goods in my kitchen cabinets (per the picture of my pantry earlier in this post).


If you take nothing else from what I'm sharing with you today, take away this: Mason jars are a great addition to your home organization efforts and they're not just for canning anymore!


6) If you're sold on the Mason jars, you definitely need the plastic lids. When you buy a set of Mason jars, you get the metal lids used for canning. Over time, they can rust and it's a pain in the behind finding both pieces of the lid when you need them.


7) I have used these Knipsa baskets from IKEA for years. I think they bring an elevated look to any shelving unit while consealing whatever you want to hide away.


8) There are bound to be instances where you have a shelving unit, but you don't need a large basket or bin to store what you need to. These fabric storage bins have been a great addition to Cameron's room.

They come in a wide range of colors and patterns, so you can truly customize them to meet the overall design of your space.


Finally, we've got...


9) These magnetic storage tins from World Market. I currently use these to store spices on the side of my refrigerator. They're a great space saver if you don't have a lot of cabinet or drawer space in your kitchen. One thing I did was paint part of them with black chalkboard paint and label them with white marker. That way, you know what spice you're grabbing!

I could easily see these magnetic tins in other areas of the home. They could be used in a home office to store thumbtacks, paper clips, or other small office supplies. I could also see them in a workshop to help organize different sizes of screws, nails, and the like.
